Company Description Sellers Services is a growing, operationally disciplined service company currently generating approximately $4.5M in revenue with a clear objective of reaching $10M within the next five years. We operate with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), believe in accountability, and are building a company known for reliability, quality, and financial discipline. We are seeking a hands-on financial leader who wants more than a traditional controller role; someone who wants to help build and scale a business. Role Purpose The Controller is responsible for building and leading the financial operating system of Sellers Services. This role ensures accurate GAAP-compliant financial reporting, disciplined cash management, structured purchasing governance, strong internal controls, and scalable processes that support growth from $4.5M to $10M in revenue. The Controller serves as the financial authority of the organization and a strategic partner to ownership, protecting margin, strengthening financial discipline, and improving decision-making visibility across the company. The Opportunity This is not a back-office accounting position. This is a leadership role. We are looking for a Controller who will: Own financial strategy and execution Build proactive cash management systems Improve job costing and margin visibility Establish purchasing controls that protect profitability Strengthen internal controls Lead annual budgeting and forecasting Partner with ownership to drive smart growth You will supervise the Office Manager and serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, participating in weekly L10 meetings. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership and strategy Design and manage rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes Provide proactive financial analysis to ownership Develop KPI dashboards and financial reporting systems Prepare financial packages for bank relationships Support lending discussions and covenant reporting Improve chart of accounts structure and reporting clarity Drive monthly close process and ensure GAAP compliance Deliver monthly financial packages including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows Accounting & Compliance Oversight Oversee AR, AP, payroll, and month-end close Ensure accurate accrual accounting and revenue recognition Monitor sales tax, payroll tax, and regulatory compliance filings Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and review Strengthen internal controls and documentation standards Oversee insurance, risk management, and audit coordination Purchasing & Cost Control The Controller owns purchasing governance and financial controls while operations executes procurement. Establish purchasing policies, approval thresholds, and internal controls Implement structured purchase order workflows Monitor material and subcontractor costs against job budgets Analyze vendor pricing and margin impact Partner with operations to improve cost predictability Improve documentation and tracking of job-related expenditures Strengthen cost discipline to protect gross margin Operational & Process Improvement Improve financial processes across departments Implement systems for margin tracking by job and service line Enhance communication between operations and accounting Identify inefficiencies and build scalable financial systems Support EOS Scorecard metrics and quarterly Rocks Leadership & Management Supervise and develop the Office Manager Participate in weekly L10 leadership meetings Contribute to annual and quarterly strategic planning Build financial awareness and accountability across departments
What We're Looking For Required:
Strong accounting knowledge with deep understanding of GAAP Experience managing financial operations in a small to mid-sized business Experience building cash flow forecasts and budgeting models Experience improving job costing or margin tracking Experience establishing financial controls and purchasing governance Strong systems thinking and process orientation Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools Comfort working within Google Sheets and digital workflow systems Leadership ability and desire to grow into greater responsibility High accountability and proactive communication Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) Experience in service-based or construction-related industries Experience presenting financial reports to banks or lenders Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience supervising accounting or administrative personnel Demonstrated ability to improve financial systems and processes Who This Role Is Perfect For A Senior Accountant ready to step into leadership A small-market Controller looking for more influence A CMA candidate who wants real operational exposure A financially strong operator who enjoys building systems Someone tired of corporate bureaucracy and ready to build something meaningful Compensation $85,000 - $110,000 based on experience and leadership capability Performance-based growth potential Opportunity for expanded financial leadership responsibilities as the company scales Direct partnership with ownership and leadership Meaningful influence on company direction Why This Role Is Different You won't just report numbers.
