We are partnering with a growing construction organization who is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting operations and serve as a proactive finance business partner. This role is ideal for a hands-on and strategic professional eager to help elevate accounting processes, support complex projects, and drive informed decision-making across the company.Key Responsibilities:
Lead all month-end and year-end accounting close activities, including financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis. Maintain and improve accounting systems, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. Oversee AP/AR, payroll processing, job cost accounting, and cash management. Prepare and present financial statements and management reports to executive leadership. Collaborate with project managers, operations, and estimating teams to review project budgets, forecasts, and actual results. Provide financial analysis, KPI reporting, and insights to support business unit profitability and identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Participate in the annual budget process and work closely with leaders to develop forecasts and business plans. Support with ad hoc analysis, capital planning, and process improvements. Coordinate with external auditors, banks, and tax advisors as needed.Finance Business Partner Duties:
Act as a strategic advisor to operations and project leadership; translate financial data into actionable business recommendations. Partner with project managers to monitor project financial performance, track change orders, and identify areas for margin improvement. Lead or support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and drive growth as the company scales. Provide guidance on procurement, contract review, and cost control to maximize project profitability.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction or project-based environments. Strong knowledge of GAAP, job cost accounting, and construction accounting software. Excellent Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems (such as Sage, Viewpoint, or similar) preferred. Team leadership experience and strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with operations teams and deliver business insights.Similar remote jobs
