Job Description
Overview:
St. Charles, a faith-based community, is dedicated to serving seniors and their families in an environment of mutual trust, cooperation, and understanding. Guided by our mission to preserve dignity, enhance quality of life, and care for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—the Controller plays a vital role in supporting this ministry through sound financial leadership. This position oversees all aspects of financial management, reporting, compliance, ensuring fiscal integrity and supporting the organization's strategic and operational goals.Key Responsibilities:
Monitor the financial well-being of the organization by providing forecasting and financial projections, reporting results, analyzing variances and developing improvements. Maintain GAAP-compliant financial policies and internal controls. Project acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion. Lead annual budget development, multi-year financial planning, bi-weekly payroll processing, general accounting operations, etc. Direct and maintain key financial processes—general ledger management, billing, accounts payable/receivable, monthly financial statements—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient workflow across all accounting operations. Attend St. Charles Board meetings, reporting on financial performance, regulatory compliance, IT security, insurance, benefits, 401(K) and other projects. Serve on Finance, Vision & Planning, and Pension Committees; act as Trustee/Administrator of the 401(k) plan. Collaborate with leadership, auditors, and external partners on compliance, insurance, and IT financial oversight.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including leadership roles. Strong GAAP, financial reporting, and Microsoft Office skills. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.Work Location:
