This role will work closely with the firm's Management and Finance Committees to ensure financial stability, transparency, and long-term success. The firm has a collegial work environment with long-term growth opportunities.
Finance Director Job Responsibilities:
The Finance Director will have responsibility for all aspects of the firm's financial management, including: Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for a mid-sized law firm Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to members and firm leadership Oversee firm-wide budgeting and member and associate attorney compensation support Manage billing, collections, and revenue reporting Oversee trust accounting, audits, and regulatory compliance Manage and develop the finance and accounting team Support data integrity and reporting by working closely with administrative teams using iManage document management system and SurePoint accounting system Oversee and manage the firm's local, outside IT provider Improve financial processes, controls, and reporting systems as the firm grows Serve as administrator of the firm retirement plan Participate in weekly Management Committee meetings
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis within a professional services environment Advanced spreadsheet and financial modeling skills Working knowledge of law firm billing, collections, and trust accounting practices preferred Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate financial information to partners and non-financial stakeholders Proven leadership experience managing finance or accounting staff Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (required) CPA and/or MBA designation valued Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience Prior experience in a law firm or mid-sized professional services firm preferred
