Job Title:
Controller Job Description The Controller is responsible for leading all financial operations and accounting functions. This role oversees the accounting team, ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and partners with executive leadership to provide financial planning and analysis that supports strategic decision-making and drives business performance. The position offers an opportunity for a strong accounting professional to step into full ownership and management of an accounting department within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Oversee all accounting department activities, including general accounting and cost accounting functions. Supervise, develop, and evaluate accounting staff, including performance management, coaching, and training initiatives. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and reports on income, expenses, and overall financial performance. Lead budgeting processes, including annual planning and ongoing financial forecasting activities. Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards, policies, and regulations. Manage cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Monitor, maintain, and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial records. Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely and accurate regulatory and compliance reporting. Support capital expenditure planning, financial analysis, and long-term strategic planning initiatives. Oversee core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and credit and collections. Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight, performance analysis, and recommendations for key business decisions. Manage banking relationships, compliance reporting, and adherence to financial covenants. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, leadership, and other departments to support operational efficiency and overall company objectives. Lead month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external parties as needed. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated leadership experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proven experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close. Expertise in cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, financial reports, and forecasts. Background in budgeting, annual planning, and financial forecasting. Demonstrated financial leadership and team management capabilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to financial and operational data. Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proven ability to act as a business partner to executive leadership, providing financial insight and guidance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Experience managing cost accounting in a manufacturing setting. Proven track record as a trusted leader who develops and mentors accounting staff. Experience coordinating internal and external audits and managing regulatory reporting. Familiarity with managing banking relationships and financial covenant compliance. Demonstrated ability to support capital expenditure planning and long-term strategic financial planning. Comfort working cross-functionally to support operational efficiency and organizational objectives. Work Environment This is an on-site position with a standard Monday through Friday schedule. The role operates within a manufacturing-focused organization and requires close collaboration with operations and leadership teams. The work environment is professional and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement in financial processes. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Easthampton, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr. Company benefits will be provided once an offer is extended. Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Easthampton,MA.
