Permanent Position Overview A growing commercial real estate company in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and oversee all accounting and financial operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role ideal for a real estate accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is excited to help scale a growing organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting Lead and mentor an accounting team; provide training, guidance, and performance management Manage property accounting for a commercial real estate portfolio, including CAM reconciliations and operating expense recoveries Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Ensure accurate accruals, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP Partner with ownership and senior leadership to provide financial insights, reporting, and analysis Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders Establish and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures as the company grows Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred) 8+ years of accounting experience with commercial real estate property accounting Prior supervisory or management experience required Strong knowledge of property-level financials, CAM, recoveries, and lease structures Experience in a growing or entrepreneurial real estate environment strongly preferred Advanced Excel and real estate accounting system experience Why Join Leadership role with high visibility and direct access to ownership Well-capitalized and growing commercial real estate company Competitive compensation ($130K-$160K) Fully on-site role promoting collaboration and ownership Opportunity to build, improve, and scale accounting processes All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
