Job Description

Controller - Elevator Industry Position Overview The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations while providing strategic financial leadership in the elevator industry. This role combines technical accounting expertise with deep industry knowledge to drive financial excellence and business growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Manage the annual audit process and relationship with external auditors Develop and maintain cash flow projections and treasury management Oversee contract review process for elevator maintenance agreements and major modernization projects Industry-Specific Duties Monitor and analyze project costs specific to elevator installation, maintenance, and modernization Evaluate pricing strategies for service contracts, considering industry-specific factors like equipment type, age, and usage patterns Track key performance indicators specific to the elevator industry (e.g., service response times, callback rates, completion rates) Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and reporting requirements Strategic Planning & Analysis Partner with executive leadership to develop financial strategies and growth initiatives Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes Provide financial analysis for major capital investments in equipment and technology Analyze merger and acquisition opportunities within the elevator sector Team Leadership & Operations Manage and develop the finance and accounting team Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies Optimize financial systems and processes to improve efficiency Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing requirements Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA certification 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience 5+ years of experience in the elevator industry or related technical service field Strong understanding of revenue recognition for both service contracts and project-based work Advanced Excel and ERP system expertise Preferred MBA or Master's degree in related field Experience with vertical transportation industry regulations and compliance Knowledge of construction accounting principles Background in manufacturing or industrial services Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellence in financial modeling and analysis Outstanding communication and leadership skills Ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills Experience with industry-specific software and maintenance management systems Working Conditions Office environment with occasional travel to job sites and regional offices Regular interaction with field operations and technical teams May require occasional evening or weekend work during month-end close and audit periods Reporting Relationship Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer or Chief Executive Officer Works closely with Operations, Sales, and Service leadership teams This position offers competitive compensation including base salary, bonus potential, comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for professional development in the elevator industry.
