The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and willing to actively participate in day-to-day accounting activities while improving processes and supporting business operations. This role partners closely with leadership to provide timely financial information and operational insights. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Clinton Township, Michigan. Responsibilities Daily Accounting Operations Manage and participate in daily accounting functions including: Accounts payable / Accounts receivable Billing and invoicing Journal entries and account reconciliations Ensure timely and accurate processing of all accounting transactions Monitor aging reports and assist with collections management Review and approve vendor payments, expense reports, and customer billing Financial Close & Reporting Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules Maintain general ledger integrity and chart of accounts Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis Prepare management reporting packages and financial analysis Ensure financial reporting accuracy and timeliness Compliance & Internal Controls Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Assist with annual audits and coordinate external auditor requests Support tax preparation and regulatory filings Develop, maintain, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures Cash Flow & Operational Support Monitor daily cash balances and cash flow forecasting Assist leadership with budgeting and expense management Support operational teams with financial information and reporting Analyze expenses, margins, and operational trends Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements Systems & Process Improvement Maintain and optimize accounting and ERP systems Improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiency Develop standardized processes and documentation Support system implementations and upgrades when needed Team Leadership Supervise and support accounting staff Provide hands-on training and mentoring Establish accountability and accuracy within the accounting function Assist in hiring and developing finance team members Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required Experience in privately held or mid-sized organizations Multi-entity accounting experience preferred CPA preferred 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience Experience managing payroll and operational accounting functions Professional services, consulting, or project-based business experience Prior experience managing full-cycle accounting operations Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
