Overall position description and job requirements with general areas of responsibility: As our Controller, you'll be the financial compass of the organization. You'll ensure our numbers tell a clear, accurate story, enabling leadership to make confident, data-driven decisions. Your work will directly influence our ability to invest in new opportunities, maintain operational efficiency, and continue building a company culture where people and performance thrive together.
What You'll Do:
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end/year-end close
  • Maintain the HR System- Paychex for new and existing employees
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable regulations
  • Prepare and present timely, accurate financial statements and management rep0orts to the executive team
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing forecasting to guide strategic planning
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships
  • Partner with department heads to analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure smooth audits and filings
  • Implement process improvements and leverage technology (i.e. ERP systems, automation tools) to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Purchase hardware and software and set up employee computers/laptops and ancillary equipment
  • Install and configure hardware and software components to ensure usability and compatibility with our infrastructure
  • Provide technical support to users, including setting up new systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues to resolve technical problems, work with external IT technical support for more complex issues
  • Ensure security and upgrades are applied to desktops and laptops, maintaining firewall and virus protection software
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use AI and automation tools to streamline processes and increase efficiencies
Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred
  • 9+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and compliance requirements
  • Proven track record of performing and managing accounting functions for a mid-sized company (50-150 employees)
  • Proficiency with accounting software (I.e. Sage, etc. and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights
  • Must be comfortable using/developing Microsoft Access
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills Working conditions
