Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and enhance the financial operations of our manufacturing organization in Edina, Minnesota. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and the effective management of accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cooperative accounting practices and a proven ability to lead teams and manage complex financial systems.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the general accounting function, ensuring the accuracy of financial data for the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports.
Manage and maintain the company's general ledger, regularly reviewing profit and loss accounts to ensure accurate representation of operational results.
Apply specialized cooperative accounting practices, including interpreting Member Marketing Agreements and adapting Pool accounting principles for financial reporting and tax preparation.
Coordinate the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors and providing required documentation and responses to audit inquiries.
Track and manage capital expenditures, including member capital, and ensure accurate fixed asset accounting.
Supervise the accounts payable function, implementing policies to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, proper approvals, and adherence to company guidelines.
Support inventory accounting processes, including reconciliations, audits, and physical inventory counts, resolving discrepancies to safeguard company assets.
Lead the development, configuration, and maintenance of financial modules within the company's ERP system, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Develop and maintain comprehensive accounting manuals, processes, and procedures, conducting periodic reviews of member cost allocation methodologies.
Perform balance sheet reviews and assist in account reconciliation to maintain detailed and accurate financial records. Requirements
A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with a focus on manufacturing or cooperative industries.
Proficiency in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle accounting, including financial reporting and compliance.
Strong experience in managing and supervising accounting teams, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
In-depth knowledge of annual external audit processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
Exceptional ability to interpret and apply cooperative accounting principles and pool accounting practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on maintaining financial accuracy and integrity.
