Job Description

Position Overview Kinetic Energy Services is seeking a Financial Controller to lead financial operations and administrative systems across a multi-division business (Electrical, Mechanical, Staffing, and Pre-Fab).This is not a traditional accounting-only role . The Controller will play a central role in driving financial performance by owning billing discipline, cash flow visibility, purchasing controls, and core administrative processes. The role reports directly to the CEO and has responsibility for implementing systems, enforcing process discipline, and improving financial execution across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial & Accounting Leadership Oversee all accounting functions, including month-end close and financial reporting Ensure accuracy, consistency, and visibility across financial data Maintain job costing and divisional financial performance tracking Billing, AR & Cash Flow Own company-wide billing processes and ensure invoices are sent accurately and on time Drive collections and reduce outstanding receivables Improve cash flow performance through better billing, collections, and forecasting discipline Accounts Payable & Purchasing Controls Oversee accounts payable processes and ensure accuracy and compliance Establish and enforce purchasing controls and approval workflows Prepare vendor payments for final approval and execution Systems & Process Ownership Own the design, implementation, and improvement of systems across: Billing and receivables Accounts payable and purchasing Workforce and payroll data Standardize processes across all divisions to improve efficiency and scalability Budgeting & Forecasting Partner with leadership to develop budgets and financial targets by division Monitor performance against expectations and identify variances Maintain short-term financial forecasts to support decision-making Team Leadership Lead and develop an existing administrative team supporting AR, AP, and HR processes Ensure the team is structured and operating effectively to support business needs Key Performance Areas Timely and accurate financial reporting Billing timeliness and receivables performance Cash flow visibility and reliability Process consistency across divisions Purchasing and cost control discipline Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA preferred but not required 5-10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience Experience in multi-division, project-based, or service environments preferred Strong understanding of job costing, AR, billing, and cash flow management Required Capabilities Ability to enforce process discipline across operational teams Proven track record improving billing, AR, and cash flow Strong financial and operational judgment Systems-oriented mindset Comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced environment Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills Required Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Excel Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, or similar) Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
