This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing accounting processes, preparing financial reports, and providing actionable business insights to leadership. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting knowledge with financial analysis capabilities and enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment. This position will support the Controller in managing the accounting function while helping drive financial performance across multiple restaurant, catering, wholesale, and commissary operations. This position reports directly to the Controller and is based in Durham, NC.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Operations Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes. Review and prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. Maintain accurate general ledger records across multiple entities. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. Support audit preparation and provide documentation as needed. Assist with cash management and treasury functions. Review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness. Financial Reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Consolidate financial results across multiple business units. Develop and maintain management reporting packages. Analyze financial results and explain key variances to budget and prior periods. Monitor and report on KPIs across restaurants, catering, wholesale, and commissary operations. Assist leadership in understanding business performance through clear reporting and analysis. Financial Planning & Analysis Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Develop financial models to evaluate business initiatives and investments. Analyze labor, food cost, and operating expense trends. Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Assist with scenario planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. Evaluate store-level performance and provide recommendations for improvement. Systems & Process Improvement Help improve accounting workflows and financial processes. Support automation initiatives and reporting enhancements. Assist with ERP, POS, payroll, and accounting system integrations. Develop dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility into financial performance. Ensure data integrity across financial systems. Leadership & Team Support Partner with department managers to support financial decision-making. Assist in training and mentoring accounting staff. Serve as a backup resource for key accounting functions. Collaborate with operations leadership to improve financial accountability and reporting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-7 years of accounting, finance, or financial analysis experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to utilize AI tools and automate procedures. Experience with accounting software and financial systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
