Job Description

We are recruiting a Controller for a well-established company in Raleigh. In this role, you will oversee the company's accounting function and partner closely with executive leadership. You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, job costing overview, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting project profitability, and helping drive operational and financial performance across the business. Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while preparing timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Oversee project accounting, including job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and revenue recognition. Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and overall financial performance while providing meaningful reporting to leadership. Partner with operations and project managers to analyze project profitability, budget variances, and financial trends. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and general accounting activities. Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable reporting and regulatory requirements. Maintain and strengthen internal controls while coordinating annual audits and supporting external financial reporting. Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting. Support executive leadership with financial analysis and recommendations that drive business growth and operational efficiency. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Experience within a project-based industry with a strong understanding of job costing and project accounting. CPA preferred, with strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
