Job Description

VP of Finance - Residential Construction Fast-growing residential roofing company with a strong reputation for quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction. The Company is entering a new phase of growth through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. They are seeking a financial leader to help scale responsibly and position the company for long-term success. VP of Finance Position Summary The VP of Finance will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for building a scalable financial infrastructure, leading the transition from cash to accrual accounting under US GAAP, and preparing the company for its first external audit. This role will also play a strategic part in evaluating growth opportunities, improving operational efficiency, and driving financial transparency across the organization. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Omaha, NE. VP of Finance Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Leadership Serve as a strategic advisor to the board and leadership team on financial planning, capital structure, and growth initiatives. Drive value creation initiatives in partnership with the private equity firm, including margin improvement, working capital optimization, and growth through M&A. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling aligned with company goals. Support M&A activity including financial due diligence and integration planning. Reporting Serve as the primary financial liaison between the Company and the private equity sponsor, ensuring timely, accurate and transparent communication of financial results, forecasts, and strategic initiatives. Prepare and deliver regular board and investor reports, including monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc updates on financial performance, KPIs, covenant compliance, and strategic initiatives. Support the board's value creation plan by providing actionable insights, scenario modeling, and recommendations for operational improvements, cost optimization, and growth initiatives. Accounting & Audit Readiness Transition the company from cash-based to accrual-based accounting in compliance with US GAAP. Select and manage external audit firm; oversee the Company's first financial audit. Establish internal controls and accounting policies to support audit readiness and financial integrity. Operational Finance Implement systems and processes to measure job progress, cost-to-complete, and revenue recognition. Collaborate with project management and operations teams to align financial reporting with field performance. Improve visibility into margins, overhead allocation, and insurance claim cycles. Develop and report on operational KPIs and metrics Team Development Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team. Evaluate and implement a finance function capable of supporting rapid growth, complex transactions, and sophisticated reporting requirements. VP of Finance Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred). 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in construction, roofing, or related industries. Proven experience transitioning to accrual accounting and leading audits. Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition. Experience in high-growth environments, including M&A or private equity-backed companies, is a plus. Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, collaborative approach.
