Job Description

A well-established, growth-oriented manufacturing organization in Central New Jersey is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function. This position reports directly to the VP of Finance and serves as a key financial leader within the organization. The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage and develop a small accounting team, ensure compliance with GAAP, strengthen internal controls, and provide executive-level financial reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities Management & Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including AP, AR, and general accounting staff Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, and lease accounting Maintain and enhance internal controls to minimize risk and ensure compliance Support system upgrades and financial infrastructure improvements Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight and business support Financial Reporting & Compliance Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP Develop monthly operating reports suitable for executive review Generate weekly dashboard reporting, including working capital and inventory analysis Ensure timely bank reporting and covenant compliance Coordinate with external accountants to support year-end review and tax matters Budgeting & Process Improvement Support and drive the annual budgeting process in partnership with finance leadership Oversee documentation of key accounting processes and procedures Identify and implement workflow enhancements and operational efficiencies Collaborate cross-functionally to support company objectives Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA and/or MBA preferred Experience Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience Significant experience within a manufacturing environment required Prior experience managing and developing an accounting team Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting operations Qualifications & Key Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Strategic thinker with the ability to work at both detailed and enterprise levels Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office ERP system experience required; experience supporting system upgrades preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Executive presence with strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on accountability and team development Equal Opportunity Statement This organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers applicants for employment without regard to legally protected characteristics in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Pay:
$115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
