Full Job Description Position:
Controller at Prestigious Real Estate Firm Will lead the day-to-day property level accounting operations across the firm's real estate portfolio and corporate platform, overseeing a team of approximately 4-10 accounting professionals. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving consistency across property and corporate accounting functions. The Controller will manage monthly and quarterly closes, review financial statements, supervise budgeting and cash flow tracking, and coordinate with asset management, property management, and external auditors. Core Accounting & Financial Management Oversee property and portfolio-level accounting activities across assets Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including aging and collections tracking (e.g., legal arrears, receivables reporting) Ensure accuracy of financial data, reporting, and reconciliations across entities Support monthly financial review processes for multiple properties and entities Coordinate ledger reviews and validate contract-based payments before disbursement Cash Management & Payments Coordinate payment processing, including vendor payments and invoice approvals Manage property level capital call tracking and investor payment follow-ups Yardi / Systems Management Administer and maintain Yardi accounting system across properties Set up properties, units, and accounting structures in Yardi Manage user access, permissions, and system functionality (e.g., A/P access, property-level access) Implement and optimize Yardi modules (e.g., contracts, VendorCafe, reporting tools) Coordinate with Yardi support and implement new system features or workflows Reporting & Data Distribution Develop and manage recurring financial reports for ownership and management teams Set up and automate report distribution (weekly/monthly reporting to investors/partners) Maintain reporting distribution lists and ensure accuracy of recipients Provide ad hoc financial reporting and support for asset management and executive team Financial Operations Support (Development / Construction) Support Accountants responsible for construction draw and requisition processes, including invoice tracking and approvals Assist with developer fee calculations and supporting documentation Interface with project managers, consultants, and vendors on construction-related financial items Review supporting documentation (e.g., lien waivers, COIs, contracts) before payments Handle Corporate

accounts in correlation to entire portfolio's Expense Reporting Coordination & Cross-Functional Support Act as a central accounting resource for internal teams (asset management, property management, construction) Communicate with vendors, tenants, and partners on financial/accounting matters (payments, insurance, documentation) Support executive and asset management teams with financial data and analysis Assist with operational setup during new property takeovers (accounting/system setup) Process Improvement & Technology Lead initiatives to automate accounting processes (e.g., payables, paperless workflows, VendorCafe rollout) Identify opportunities to improve reporting, efficiency, and data accuracy Evaluate and implement new accounting technologies and workflows Comfortable utilizing and capitalizing on AI Intelligence for Process Improvements Team & Operational Support Support & manage internal staff (accountants, property staff) on accounting systems and troubleshooting Assist with technical and software-related needs across the accounting team Coordinate information flow between accounting and other departments
Pay:
$155,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
