Position:

Full-Time Controller We are seeking an experienced and strategic full-time Controller to oversee the financial operations of our 50-employee firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry and the ability to manage complex tasks including ESOP evaluations, D/MBE certifications, and comprehensive insurance renewals.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.

Accounting Operations:

Oversee AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger maintenance to ensure high-quality financial transactions.

Cash Flow Management:

Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure sufficient funding for operational needs.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

Develop, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance with GAAP and tax regulations.

Budgeting & Analysis:

Coordinate the annual budget and re-forecast process, analyzing variances and reporting to leadership.

Project Cost Control:

Perform project-wide budget and cost analysis to support project management and profitability.

ESOP Management:

Oversee annual ESOP evaluation and distribution processes.

D/MBE Certifications:

Oversee and maintain annual D/MBE certifications and compliance.

Insurance & Audit:

Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and oversee insurance compliance and renewals (Health and Business).

Requirements:

5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within a small-to-mid-sized construction business environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Core, or Jonas. Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail, ethical conduct, and a results-oriented mindset. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of the executive leadership team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Required). Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/controller experience (Required). Experience in the construction industry (Required).
