Job Description

Overview Sloan & Company, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. Reporting to the VP of Accounting & Finance, the Controller will play a key role in developing and implementing financial policies, managing accounting functions, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our business goals. Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations including Payroll, Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights and analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying and explaining variances.
  • Provide financial projections and analysis for strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and ensure timely and accurate completion of audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial and tax reporting requirements.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, and business development opportunities.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive business performance and growth. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a construction related financial management role.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and construction financial principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, MS Office Suite, and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high levels of accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team, and to work collaboratively with other departments. Benefits
