The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of Northern Nevada HOPES and its subsidiaries NNH QALICB and NNH Support, and for ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the financial records and reports. This role is supervisory and leads a team of accountants. Essential Functions of this role are; Payroll Accounting Reporting & Budgeting Ancillary Duties People Leadership You will have a high level of integrity and attention to detail and accuracy. You will be competent in collaboration with all levels of staff members, be able be a communication expert and influential. Finally, you will be able to effectively guide and develop staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPES' policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES. Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and grant management and fund accounting experience required. Demonstrated experience leading organizational accounting functions Proven ability to oversee general ledger, month-end close, budgeting, audit coordination, and financial reporting in a complex, multi-fund environment. Deep understanding of nonprofit and healthcare finance Experience with fund accounting, restricted funding, grants management, and compliance requirements common to federally qualified health centers or similar mission-driven organizations. Strong financial leadership and collaboration skills Ability to partner with executive leadership, program leaders, and external stakeholders to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making. Experience strengthening systems, controls, and processes Track record of improving internal controls, financial systems, and workflows to increase accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across the organization. Peoplecentered management approach Experience mentoring and developing accounting staff, fostering accountability, continuous learning, and alignment with organizational values. Computer literacy required. Prior supervision experience preferred. Current CPA license or Master's in Accounting or Business preferred.
