Lead the financial future of a growing commercial real estate organization. North Forest Office Space is a privately held owner, developer, and operator of commercial office properties throughout the country. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to serve as a key financial leader within the organization and a trusted partner to executive leadership. This is not a typical corporate accounting role. We are looking for a strategic thinker who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, improving processes, mentoring a team, and helping guide a growing company through its next phase of success. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will play a critical role in financial operations, cash management, reporting, budgeting, and business decision-making. Position Summary:
The Controller serves as the leader of the accounting function and is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax coordination, internal controls, and team development. The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and partners closely with executive leadership to provide financial insight and operational support.
Direct the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring timely, GAAP-compliant financial reporting. Maintain the general ledger structure and provide actionable insights to executive leadership to drive informed decision-making.
Cash Flow & Budget Management:
Manage the annual budgeting process, lead cash flow forecasting, and develop forward-looking financial models that track revenue trends and operating performance.
Strategic & Operational Oversight:
Coordinate federal, state, and sales tax filings. Oversee risk management, insurance programs, and internal controls. Manage daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, collections, vendor payments, and credit card programs.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing accounting team. Establish performance goals, manage hiring and training, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous process improvement.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as the primary point of contact for audit preparation, lenders, municipalities, and ownership groups regarding financial reporting and compliance requirements.
Education and Experience/Certification or License:
(these are the requirements of the position) Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Active CPA designation. 7-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Public accounting experience. Experience working with multi-entity organizations, including LLCs, partnerships, and related entities. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting teams. Authorization to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Tax accounting experience. Commercial real estate industry experience. Construction industry experience. Experience supporting privately held, entrepreneurial, or family-owned businesses. Experience implementing accounting process improvements and technology solutions. Advanced budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling expertise.

Pay:
$110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
