President/Vice President Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department which includes, but is not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany billing, payroll, bank reconciliation, monthly accruals, general ledger adjustments/maintenance, project cost tracking, forecasting and business plan development. The Controller provides oversight and supervision of the accounting team.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for monthly general ledger, balance sheet and income statement analysis, as well as balance sheet and income statement presentation. Supervises the preparation of monthly financial statements with appropriate detail and variance analysis against budget. Prepares account analysis as needed. Supervises accounting team which includes, but is not limited to, performance reviews, training/education, disciplinary actions and recruitment. Prepares quarterly B4 reporting and other

reporting requirements. Reviews all reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the accounting team. Assists senior leadership team and COO/CFO with various projects and analyses. Develops and maintains ongoing reserves for uncollectable accounts. Analyzes financial statements on a monthly basis and reports on variances. Assists in documentation and monitoring of internal controls. Coordinates annual audit process and ensures clean and timely year-end audit. Works collaboratively with the accounting/finance leadership team, division chiefs and/or other physicians in completion of business plans and/or other financial analyses. Monitors and analyzes the daily and weekly cash flow analysis. Ensures proper recording of payroll taxes, benefit expenses and salaries. Coordinates with billing department regarding management of revenue recognition. Manages banking relationship for commercial accounts, business insurance, lockbox and reporting. Works collaboratively with accounting/finance leadership team and senior financial analyst in completion of the annual budget. Coordinates and facilitates completion of all business plans for new hires, new services, procedures, and any other revenue-enhancing opportunities. Proactively advises COO/CFO and senior management of opportunities for improvement, growth, revenue generation and/or cost savings.
Other Functions:
Ensures continued education and understanding of financial reporting updates, laws, etc. and ensures compliance with all financial organizational procedures. Completes and manages annual Article XVI reporting to the University. Generates reports for projects to enhance operations and identifies issues as needed. Periodically audits work of the accounting department to ensure accuracy. Develops and/or updates accounting/finance policies. Supports budget and forecasting activities. Reviews company email on at least a daily basis in order to receive and address notifications and/or other pertinent information in a timely manner. Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures. Any other duties as requested or assigned by the accounting/finance leadership team and/or COO/CFO. May be required to travel to other UBMD Surgery location(s) dependent on company need.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required, Masters degree or CPA preferred.
Experience:
Five to seven years experience in accounting/finance, preferably in health care. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with financial software required.
