Permanent About the Role Empire State Mines is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations at our mine site in Gouverneur. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning activities within a complex operational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with site leadership and corporate finance teams to ensure financial transparency, strong controls, and strategic financial insight as the company continues to grow its mining and resource development operations. Key Responsibilities Lead site accounting operations and financial reporting processes Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles Oversee budgeting, cost accounting, and financial analysis Own FP&A processes including forecasting for P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow Track capital expenditures and manage fixed asset capitalization Ensure accurate inventory cycle counts and maintain financial controls Prepare financial statements, compliance reports, and regulatory filings Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts Support internal and external audits Maintain compliance with corporate policies and financial regulations Partner with operational teams to improve efficiency and financial performance Lead financial systems improvements, including ERP implementation Provide financial insights and reporting to both site and corporate leadership Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior finance or financial leadership role Strong background in financial reporting, FP&A, and cost accounting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Extensive experience with QuickBooks Experience supporting ERP system implementation Experience in mining, industrial, manufacturing, or construction sectors Strong knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance Understanding of IFRS accounting standards Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively across operational and corporate teams Preferred Qualifications Experience in public company environments CPA certification (preferred but not required) Experience applying agile or lean operational practices Background in complex operational industries such as mining or heavy manufacturing Work Environment This is a fully on-site leadership role located at our mining operation in Gouverneur. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to support both daily financial operations and long-term strategic growth initiatives .
