Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Director of Finance to report directly to the CFO. This role oversees two direct reports and plays a critical role in supporting the organization's financial operations, reporting, compliance, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical finance and accounting expertise, and experience in nonprofit financial management.Responsibilities:
- Oversee key financial operations including endowment management, cash management and treasury functions, construction accounting, portfolio management, contract administration, financial systems management, internal controls and financial reporting.
- Partner closely with the CFO, Controller, Finance Team, and other functional departments across the organization.
- Evaluate accounting and financial reporting needs and assist in the design and implementation of systematic applications and processes.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles for nonprofit organizations.
- Support audit preparation, compliance initiatives, and ad hoc financial reporting projects.
- Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Manage and mentor direct reports while fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5-8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience required.
- Experience within a nonprofit environment strongly preferred.
- MBA preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Financial Edge software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, treasury and cash management, accounting systems, and nonprofit accounting principles.
