Job Summary:
Join us as an Assistant Controller, where you'll be responsible for ensuring the accounting and finance department perform their functions efficiently and the organization has reliable financial reports. The Assistant Controller will enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and will ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is hands-on with day-to-day accounting operations, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Management & Banking Prepare and maintain daily cash and cash projection reports for management. Reconcile all monthly bank accounts for all entities. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. General Ledger & Journal Entries Prepare and review monthly general ledger reconciliations and analysis for all balance sheet accounts. Prepare, enter, and post journal entries as needed. Tax & Compliance Prepare and submit tax filings, including sales tax, tangible property, and other required filings. Maintain financial information, files, and records to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines. Protect the company's value by keeping information confidential. Fixed Assets Understand and manage fixed assets, including additions, disposals, sales, depreciation methods, etc. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare, develop, and analyze various financial reports for management use. Assist in gathering information for the annual financial audit and preparation of audit schedules. Strong understanding of GAAP and research skills. Maintain understanding of financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows. Maintain fundamental understanding of all general accounting systems and functions; continually evaluate processes and look for improvement opportunities. Cross-Functional Support Assist various departments with research or support questions (e.g., Human Resources). Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels, including field and service personnel and remote employees. Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Assist in strategic planning and decision-making by providing actionable financial insights. Additional Responsibilities Complete any other tasks or special projects requested by the Controller.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. Prior experience as an Assistant Controller of at least 5 years experience. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including reporting. Experience working with remote employees/staff members, providing guidance and mentorship. Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms commonly used in the construction industry. Viewpoint Vista, QuickBooks Desktop or Online preferred. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders effectively. Strong leadership, ownership mentality, and team-building capabilities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and expectations with minimal supervision. Training will be provided in Holtsville, NY.

$110,000.00•$125,000.00 per year
