Job Description

Film at Lincoln Center (FLC) seeks a Senior Director, Finance to oversee the organization's financial operations. Reporting to the President, the Senior Director, Finance serves as FLC's primary driver of financial strategy, acting as a trusted thought partner to leadership and the Board of Directors. The role's primary responsibilities include budgeting & forecasting, accounting, ensuring financial compliance, and providing financial and strategic insight to internal stakeholders. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Planning Lead the development of the annual operating budget and multi-year financial plans. Produce rolling forecasts, cash flow projections, and scenario analyses. Oversee cash management, reserves planning, and long-term financial sustainability. Develop financial models for new initiatives, programs, and festivals in collaboration with key stakeholders. Support long-term capital planning, including facilities, infrastructure, and major systems investments. Directly manage the work of the Finance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team. Prepare and present detailed quarterly financial reports and forecasts to the Finance Committee, Executive Committee, and full Board as appropriate. Compliance, Oversight, and Processes Oversee all accounting activities to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reporting and compliance with GAAP. Oversee annual audits, regulatory filings, and compliance with nonprofit finance requirements, collaborating with an outside accounting firm to produce audited financial statements and 990. Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and best practices. Lead and continuously improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools. Ensure accurate, timely accounting and financial close processes. Partner with external auditors, financial consultants, and service providers. Cross-organizational Financial Partnership & External Representation Serve as a thought and accountability partner to: Marketing & Programming to establish revenue goals and sales reporting processes. Development & Partnerships on revenue modeling, analysis, and earned and contributed income assumptions. Human Resources on compensation planning, staffing scenarios, and union-related financial implications. Operations on capital projects and facilities expenses. President and Deputy Director to develop and ensure financial models aligned with strategic and artistic priorities. Represent FLC to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, advocating for the organization's interests related to a multi-organizational shared annual budget for expenses related to occupancy and shared services. Required Qualifications At least 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, in a nonprofit, arts and culture, or mission driven organization. Proven experience managing and developing a finance team. Experience with board-level financial reporting. Strong financial modeling and analytical skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences. Collaborative leadership style with comfort working across departments. Preferred Qualifications CPA, MBA, or advanced certification in Finance or Business. Experience in the film industry. Experience in capital campaign financial planning and reporting.
