Job Summary Oversees the planning, development, implementation, and day-to-day management of the company's administrative and financial services, supporting and promoting profitable goals and objectives. Supervisory Responsibilities Accounting Staff Essential Duties/Responsibilities Provides accounting oversight for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, and Banking functions of the organization. Provides budget management and prepares financial reports in a timely manner. Reviews bank account status daily. Works with third-party accounting firms for bookkeeping, audits and taxes. Works with third-party accounting firms to create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Works with ESOP third-party administrator and valuation firms for annual ESOP reports and stock price valuation. Assists with 401k and ESOP Plan Administration. Oversees and coordinates annual ESOP and insurance audits. Assists management team with financial planning, including forecasting and budget management. Keeps President/CEO current on financial outlook of organization. In collaboration with other leadership and management staff, develops, implements, operates, maintains, and controls the essential financial business of the company. Visits stores regularly to view operations and periodically attends Monday manager meetings. Drafts and implements policies and best practices to support achievement of objectives and required standards. Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to tax laws, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), federal acquisition regulations (FAR), and cost accounting standards (CAS). Maintains knowledge of developments and trends in finance and administration including technological advances. Supervises Accounting staff. Participates in the hiring process for new Accounting staff. Monitors progress and provides regular feedback to Accounting staff. Coaches employees and completes performance evaluations. If necessary, prepares discipline notices and meets with employees to review. Always consult with HR when considering terminating an employee to review the situation. Participates in regular meetings as assigned. Develop and monitor internal controls and policies to protect company assets, preventing fraud and protecting integrity of financial data. Supports company events and provides operational support to store teams during high-volume periods.
Requirements:

Ability to train and motivate others to do their best to achieve goals. Ability to use computer. Proficient using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and willingness to learn other required software (e.g., scheduling, payroll, etc.) Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, plus 5 years experience working as an accounting manager or controller.
Preferred:
CPA. Accounting experience in a grocery or retail environment. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 5-10 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must be able to travel.
