Experience:
5-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in manufacturing (aerospace/defense a bonus) Ready to steer the financial future of a premier aerospace manufacturer? PrideStaff has partnered with a dynamic, growing industry leader to find a hands-on, strategic Controller . Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead all accounting operations for a lean team in an exciting aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This is a critical, high-impact role. You won't just be managing numbers—you will build credible, diligence-ready financials and optimize robust cost structures to position the company for successful audits and a potential future sale or recapitalization.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Close:
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring GAAP-compliant financial statements and maintaining general ledger integrity.
Cost Accounting:
Own all manufacturing cost functions, including standard costing, overhead absorption, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Ensure cost structures are audit-ready for government and defense-related contracts.
Audit & Compliance:
Serve as the primary point of contact for external and customer audits; design and maintain rigorous internal controls.
Operational Partnership:
Partner directly with operations to analyze margins, labor efficiency, and material usage, driving better visibility and performance.
Team Leadership:
Manage, coach, and develop a staff accountant handling AP, bank reconciliations, and general accounting.
Tax & Fixed Assets:
Coordinate federal, state, and local tax compliance with external advisors, and oversee fixed asset accounting.
Process Improvement:
Drive ERP utilization, reporting accuracy, and process automation within a lean accounting function.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Experience:
5 to 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in a manufacturing environment (aerospace/defense is a major bonus).
Technical Expertise:
Strong mastery of cost accounting (standard costing, inventory, and variance analysis) and deep knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Audit & Transaction Savvy:
Proven track record leading audits. Experience preparing for a transaction (sell-side diligence, Quality of Earnings, or Private Equity-backed environments) is strongly preferred.
Systems:
Solid ERP experience required, ideally with manufacturing systems. Ideal Attributes for
