$120,000 - $160,000 per year Job Summary We are a growing engineering and construction company looking for an experienced Accounting Controller to oversee daily accounting operations and lead and develop an existing team of accountants. This role oversees all accounting and finance functions, ensures accurate financial reporting, and provides financial insight to support project profitability and company growth. The ideal candidate has strong construction or EPC accounting experience , is comfortable working hands‑on, and can lead a team in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions (Purchasing, AP/AR, payroll coordination, fixed assets, GL)
- Hands on management and oversight of daily tasks in order to aid in prioritization, balance workloads and step in as needed to achieve objectives.
- Ability to develop processes and workpapers from scratch that address company or business risk(s) and are executable within the current infrastructure, with the ability to scale as the company grows.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes and internal reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
- Cash management, banking relationships, and treasury activities
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accountants currently on staff
- Support system improvements, and special projects as needed
- Develop and implement processes to maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance; operational and job costing knowledge is critical in order to streamline workflows and improve processes, systems and efficiencies
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance
- Lead audits, tax filings, and financial reporting requirements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Work closely with operations and leadership to support business decisions, ensure financial accuracy and alignment among roles. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA preferred
- 7-10+ years of accounting experience
- 3-5+ years of leadership experience
- Strong understanding of
U.S. GAAP
- EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience in construction or project-based accounting preferred
- Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, etc.) Skills
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
