Job Description

Job Overview We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to take the lead on our financial operations and help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. This role oversees key accounting functions, ensures compliance with applicable standards, and supports thoughtful financial planning as we continue to grow. Please do not reach out regarding recruiting services Duties Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and project profitability reports Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections Perform detailed variance analysis, with emphasis on labor cost performance Provide actionable financial insights to leadership and operations teams Track burdened labor rates and labor productivity by trade and classification Oversee progress billing (AIA or equivalent) and ensure alignment with contract terms Manage accounts receivable, collections, and retainage Ensure compliance with percentage-of-completion accounting Track bonding, and lien requirements Track commitments vs. actual costs Oversee vendor payments and resolve discrepancies Forecast and manage project and company cash flow Implement and enforce strong internal financial controls Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies Manage and optimize ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intaact, SCM) Partner with owner, superintendents and supporting departments Provide insight into labor efficiency across plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal scopes Present financial and operational performance to owner Support strategic planning, workforce planning, and growth initiatives Work directly with accounting and payroll staff Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, including construction accounting Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency Experience using Sage Intaact and Sage Construction Management Preferred Experience in mechanical contracting (plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal) Experience supporting union, DOL, or third-party audits Key Skills Deep understanding of multi-union labor structures and fringe calculations Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail Strong communication and management skills Able to work effectively with field teams, union reps, and owner Strong organizational and time management skills Flexible and reliable Able to meet fast paced deadlines
Pay:
$110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
