Jennie Joiner with The Forum Group PNW is partnering with a longstanding, mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting the local community to find their next Finance & Accounting Manager. This is more than a traditional accounting role, it's an opportunity to play a key part in supporting programs that directly impact individuals and families across the community. The Finance & Accounting Manager will play a critical role in ensuring strong financial stewardship, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making that supports the organization's mission. This position partners closely with finance, grants, and program leadership to maintain financial integrity, improve processes, and support programs delivering vital services throughout the region. Position Overview The Finance & Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting operations while also supporting financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls across multiple programs and departments. This role serves as a key partner to leadership, helping ensure accurate financial data, supporting grant and fund accounting, and contributing to financial planning and process improvements across the organization. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Reporting Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies Assist in preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and internal reporting Maintain accurate accounting records and financial documentation Finance & Accounting Management Oversee core accounting and financial operations, including: Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Cash receipts and general ledger activity Payroll oversight Fixed assets and credit card management Additional responsibilities include: Maintaining the chart of accounts and ensuring proper transaction coding Supporting grant and fund accounting, including tracking restricted funds and assisting with reporting and compliance Partnering with program leaders to support budgets, answer financial questions, and provide guidance Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls Support annual audit processes by preparing schedules and documentation Ensure adherence to internal controls and nonprofit compliance standards Assist with monitoring contract compliance and financial recordkeeping Budgeting & Financial Planning Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes Provide budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis Support leadership and departments in understanding financial performance and trends Leadership & Team Support Supervise and support accounting staff Assist with onboarding, training, and development Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and mission-focused team environment Qualifications Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Bachelor's preferred Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience 2+ years of nonprofit, grant, or fund accounting experience preferred Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Experience working in an ERP system (beyond QuickBooks) Strong understanding of GAAP Intermediate to advanced Excel skills Experience with MIP or nonprofit accounting systems is a plus Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Why This Role Matters This organization serves hundreds of individuals and families each year through programs focused on housing, community services, and essential resources.
