Job Description

Company Description Rockmore International is a leading global manufacturer of premium quality percussive rock drilling tools. Our high-performance products include drill bits, hammers, rods, and other drill tool accessories. With manufacturing centers in two hemispheres and distribution centers on nearly every continent, Rockmore International provides quality tools to mining, construction, tunneling, quarrying, and water-well projects worldwide. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Controller based in Portland, OR. The Controller will be responsible for managing all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition. The role also involves coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements, managing the budgeting process, and performing internal audits. Additionally, the Controller will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, develop financial strategies, and provide insights to support business decisions. What you'll do:
Financial Reporting:
Maintain trial balance, prepare, and review journal entries, and account reconciliations
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations and ensure compliance with GAAP. Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
Policy Creation:
Develop and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Audit Coordination:
Oversee and coordinate internal and external audits and ensure the accuracy of recorded data
Communication:
Communicate financial information to management and foster cross functional collaboration
Process Improvement and Controls:
refine accounting processes and develop efficiencies with appropriate internal control safeguards Other duties and tasks, as assigned Job responsibilities: Primary responsibility for assuring all financial transactions complies with GAAP and all other required financial accounting standards Direct management of accounting and finance activities throughout business unit Lead and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting Review standard cost development, internal control compliance, variance analysis, inventory accounting, expense control and employee training and development Work closely with IT in developing and maintaining the appropriate systems required to run the business Provide monthly reporting, monitoring and analysis of all inventories and inventory reserves Coordinate the annual unit costing process and provide Management with analysis of ongoing cost changes Preparation of monthly financial reports Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills Proven leadership skills Skills and abilities: Proficient knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Results focused Good people management skills Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with exceptional Excel skills Attention to detail Ability to use spreadsheets, databases and other IT programs
Education/Experience:
5-10 years of similar or related experience, preferably in manufacturing Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting Knowledge of personal computer systems such as Microsoft applications such as Excel and integrated financial/MRP programs required CPA or CMA preferred (not required)
