Job Description

Plant ControllerPosition OverviewThis role is responsible for financial accounting and operational reporting for the division in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory/advisory standards. The Controller provides leadership over the accounting function, assigning responsibilities and training, monitoring, and improving the performance of reporting staff. The role manages a team of approximately 7 accounting employees and reports directly to the CFO.Key Responsibilities-Manage operational expenses through the division's accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial management reports, production reporting, KPIs, and scorecards-Oversee bills of materials (BOM) and standards-Maintain accurate Live Ag and Variance P&Ls-Manage fixed assets and capital spending processes-Participate in monthly and year-end financial closing, including maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger; analyze and report monthly financial results to management per required format and timing-Provide a standard costing system and ensure accuracy of physical inventory and reported values-Manage and participate in inventory reconciliation-Oversee disbursement activities, including accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and division payroll tax compliance-Implement and enforce financial reporting and accounting procedures and schedules-Establish and maintain internal controls that verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data-Participate in the budget and forecasting process, providing insight and financial reporting as required-Ensure division income tax compliance and appropriate application of tax codes-Document and understand the ERP system; ensure accurate utilization across the organization-Assess risk and liability through audits and compliance activities with external auditors and agencies-Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance-Respond to the CFO as assigned with accurate, timely work-Manage accounting staff (approximately 7 employees), including hiring, training, planning and assigning work, performance management, and resolving employee issues-Perform special projects and other related duties as assignedQualifications-Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent-5+ years of financial accounting experience, including consumer products industry experience; food/protein industry experience required-Solid system knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics/Navision or other ERP systems-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization-Strong technical and analytical skills, sound judgment, and a strong operational focus-Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff-Well-organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment-CPA preferredBenefitsHighly Competitive Compensation Package ($100-150k DOE)401k RetirementHoliday, Sick Pay, PTO PackageOpportunity to join a longstanding leader in the food manufacturing industryPositive Workplace Culture, Team DynamicsCareer growth opportunities
