Job Overview -Finance Director (Construction)
Compensation:
$200,000 - $300,000/year
Location:
Philadelphia, PA Schedule:
Monday to Friday (In-Office) Atlantic Group is hiring a Finance Director (Construction)in Philadelphia, PA for our client, supporting construction accounting, project cost management, financial reporting, and operational accounting oversight within a growing construction and property operations environment. This leadership role will partner closely with executive leadership, construction management, and project teams to oversee job cost accounting, financial reporting, construction draw administration, and project forecasting across multiple active projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction controllership experience, leadership skills, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Responsibilities as the Finance Director (Construction):
Construction Accounting Leadership:
Lead accounting operations across active construction and development projects, ensuring accurate job cost accounting, financial reporting, and operational oversight.
Cost Management & Forecasting:
Maintain project forecasting, budget tracking, and cost analysis across multiple projects while proactively identifying financial risks and variances.
Budget & Variance Analysis:
Prepare and present project variance reporting, cost analysis, and financial updates to executive leadership and operational stakeholders.
Change Order & Draw Oversight:
Oversee change order administration, construction draw processes, lender reporting, compliance documentation, and funding coordination activities.
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight:
Lead accounting staff, establish financial controls, improve workflows, and hold project teams accountable for timely and accurate financial execution. Qualifications for the Finance Director (Construction):
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
Experience:
10+ years of accounting or finance experience within construction, development, or project-based environments is required, including 5+ years of management experience.
Industry Knowledge:
Strong understanding of construction accounting, job cost accounting, lender draw processes, project forecasting, cost-to-complete reporting, and development operations is required.
Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, while experience with Yardi or construction accounting systems is strongly preferred.
Leadership Experience:
Prior experience managing accounting teams, operational workflows, and cross-functional coordination within construction or development organizations is required.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong executive presence, communication skills, analytical abilities, organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are required.
