This role ensures financial accuracy, supports executive decision-making, and drives operational efficiency through strong financial leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) Oversee general ledger and close process Manage AP, AR, payroll, and cash flow Develop budgets and forecasts Maintain strong internal controls Coordinate audits and tax filings Implement process improvements and automation Partner with leadership on financial strategy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Financial Reporting Accuracy:
Error-free statements and audit adjustments minimized
Close Cycle Efficiency:
Monthly close completed within target timeline (e.g., 5-7 days)
Budget Variance:
Maintain variance within acceptable thresholds (±3-5%)
Cash Flow Management:
Maintain healthy liquidity and optimize working capital
Audit Results:
Clean audit opinions with minimal findings
Compliance:
Timely and accurate regulatory and tax filings
Process Improvement:
Reduction in manual processes and cycle times
Team Performance:
Staff productivity, retention, and development progress
Leadership Expectations Strategic Leadership:
Provide financial insights that guide business decisions and long-term strategy
Team Development:
Mentor and develop accounting staff, building a high-performing team
Accountability:
Establish clear goals, monitor performance, and ensure high standards
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with other departments to align financial goals
Change Management:
Lead system upgrades, process improvements, and organizational change
Communication:
Clearly present financial information to executives and stakeholders
Ethical Standards:
Maintain integrity, transparency, and compliance in all financial activities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA preferred 7-10+ years of experience Leadership experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of non-profit accounting experience
  • Minimum 3 years of non-profit controller experience Summary The Controller is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring financial excellence, compliance, and strategic guidance to support business success.
