Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Comptroller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and financial management within a nonprofit, governmental, or corporate setting. The Comptroller will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making through comprehensive financial analysis. Duties Manage and oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounting , accounts payable , accounts receivable , and cash management . Ensure compliance with
GAAP , SOX , IFRS
, and other relevant regulatory standards. Prepare and review financial reports , including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation to maintain integrity of financial data. Lead regulatory reporting efforts and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations for nonprofit, governmental, or corporate entities. Supervise the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Oversee budgeting , forecasting , and financial planning activities to support organizational goals. Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with policies. Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks , Sage , Xero , or other financial management tools for accurate record-keeping. Collaborate with external auditors during audits and prepare necessary documentation for compliance purposes. Lead initiatives for process improvements in financial operations and reporting accuracy. Manage leave policies and ensure accurate payroll integration. manage employee benefit programs including pension plans, health and welfare and unemployment claims. Handle insurance claims and work with insurance carriers to maintain appropriate coverage. Oversee payroll functions, quarterly reports, annual returns, W-2's and 1099's. Participate in labor relations activities, including grievance investigations and contract negotiations. Submit and monitor electronic submissions to HUD and any other Federal, State or Local entities as required. Experience Proven experience as a Comptroller , Finance Director, or accounting professional with a minimum of 4 years in roles involving extensive financial management. Demonstrated expertise in GAAP , SOX
compliance , IFRS , and regulatory reporting requirements pertinent to nonprofit or governmental organizations. Strong background in non-profit accounting , governmental accounting , or related fields preferred. Extensive knowledge of financial concepts , including cash management , budgeting , and financial analysis . Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks , Sage , or Xero ; experience with other financial management systems is advantageous. Excellent skills in financial report writing , data analysis, and presentation of complex financial information clearly to stakeholders. Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and regulatory standards governing public or nonprofit entities. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
