DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Corporate Controller establishes and monitors policies and procedures for General Accounting.
Continuously assesses operations for:
Quality of information obtained and processed. Appropriateness of staffing levels and organizational structure. Accounts receivable review. Understanding and compliance with current accounting pronouncements and regulations. Responsible for monthly financial statement preparation and analysis Prepares annual budget for organization and related facilities, maintains/updates budget software. Performs analysis of major variances. Interfaces with department heads through training and budgeting process, and reviews the monthly financial performance as needed. Ensures appropriate audit and accounting procedures are followed. Prepares cash flow projections and provides due diligence support in relation to new ventures/acquisitions. Preparation of monthly reports for Finance Committee, Operations, and other monthly Financial Reporting as needed for senior and executive management, Board of Trustees and Board Committees, and other stakeholders. Analytical review and preparation of account balances, activity, and reconciliations to assure accurate reporting and to identify and explain trends and variances, including coordination with revenue cycle teams. Manage/maintain supporting accounting systems, processes and reconciliations to financial records for fixed assets, inventory, payables, receivables, and other related systems. Actively support and participate in the annual audit of financial statements and preparation of statutory reporting including tax returns and Form 990 information returns. Assure proper accounting and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and Caron policies and procedures. Provide financial support and expertise in projects including pro forma analyses of new services, acquisitions, expansion opportunities, major purchases, financing and lease transactions and other projects as assigned. Develop and improve financial and accounting processes, procedures, and policies. Provide financial support and guidance to executive, department management and staff to support the effectiveness of program services and departmental operations and the strategic plan of Caron. Ensure department cross training, process documentation and knowledge transfer for transitions and back up. This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions. EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Five years' experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or fund accounting required. CPA required. Requires BS in Accounting or Business Administration MBA preferred Requires previous managerial responsibility If in recovery, 2 years of continuous sobriety preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Requires strong technical and analytical understanding of accounting activities. Prefers excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with staff and management. Requires a knowledge of Windows operating systems Requires a significant knowledge of Excel Prefer knowledge of Blackbaud financial systems, fixed asset accounting software, grant accounting, patient revenue accounting.
