Function of Position:
The Assistant Controller serves as the chief assistant to the Controller and assumes responsibility for the entire Controller's operation in the absence of the Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for the management of the office and works with the Controller to ensure all financial systems and records are maintained to provide both internal and budgetary control.Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall coordination of professional and clerical staff in areas such as Accounts Receivable (other than student), Accounts Payable, Reconciliations, Grants Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Travel. Assist in efforts to comply with Federal/State/Local regulations governing all funds. This includes the timely submission of all financial reports and the reconciliation of the College's records to various agencies. Develop, maintain, and revise systems and procedures necessary for adequate fiscal control and process efficiency. This requires direct contact with system programmers, supervisors, and operations personnel. Responsible for the review and approval of all claim vouchers; this includes adequacy of budget, proper documentation for audit purposes, and ensuring that expenses are in compliance with outside funding guidelines, as appropriate. Work directly with the Controller in planning and forecasting cash receipts, revenues, and disbursements. Assist the Controller in the investment of College funds in the responsibility for the inventory control of all equipment and provide reporting on a monthly basis. Work closely with independent auditors to prepare necessary information to facilitate the annual audit and assist in the preparation of the audited financial statements. Coordinate Board of Trustees reports and SUNY Annual Report. Serves on various committees as assigned by the Controller. Perform various other duties/responsibilities as assigned.MCC Expectations:

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of seven years related experience. Minimum of five years supervisory experience. Financial statement preparation.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution or CPA preferred. Higher Education experience. Experience working with independent auditors Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficientlyAdditional Information:
Salary:
Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $95,000 to $105,000 and is based on these mentioned factors. MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit-eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting, and compressed work schedules.
