Job Description
The Assistant Controller applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and to prepare financial reports by performing the following duties. The ideal candidate will be located within two hours of Pittsburg, KS, with the ability to support occasional on-site visits. These tasks are accomplished by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(other duties may be assigned): Reconciling the Corporate American Express and VISA statements each month and coding the entries to the proper G/L accounts Reconciling all health care-related invoices and comparing them to payroll records Coding miscellaneous accounts payable (A/P) invoices; processing vendor payments for ACH/Wires through our banking system Overseeing all aspects of A/P and maintaining the weekly A/P aging Working with the Travel Coordinator to ensure flight and convention expenses are correctly accounted for; performing convention account analysis and reporting Approving expense reimbursements through Concur and other forms of expense reporting Preparing and analyzing financial information and providing detailed monthly departmental reports to supervisors Summarizing car allowance calculations for year-end payroll reporting Preparing 1099s at year-end Reconciling and paying monthly broker commissions Compiling and preparing annual budget templates and entering approved budgets into cloud-based material requirements planning system (MRP) Preparing monthly vacation accrual entries Preparing recurring journal entries, bank reconciliations, use tax, and various other entries for month-end close Compiling and maintaining project costs Assisting Controller with financial reports and analysis as requested Assisting Controller with the day-to-day activities and supervision within the Accounting department Working closely with Purchasing, Operations, and other departments daily
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in accounting with two to four years of related accounting experience Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles Conscientious, detail-oriented worker who is self-motivated Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks Strong written and verbal communication skills 10-key proficient and good computer skills (Excel or similar spreadsheet program) Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds Ability to be physically mobile with reasonable accommodation including ability to walk, balance, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, and stoop
