Job Description
Position Summary The Controller is responsible for the full range of financial controls and reporting requirements. This is a hybrid position requiring a combination of on-site and remote work.
Position Responsibilities:
Period Close :
In full compliance with US GAAP standards, overseeing all monthly closing duties including preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliation's, G/L account reconciliation's and uploading of financial results to APLL. This is for both VASCOR LTD and all VASCOR's subsidiaries including VASCOR de Mexico, VASCOR Transport, VASCOR Brokerage, and VASCOR Holdings.P&L and BS Commentary :
Variance analysis and interpretation Business Partnering Exceptional business collaboration skills across functions to collectively drive key business platforms and deliver expected results. Strategy development, implementation and monitoring for all VASCOR business units. Oversight of the strategy and financial performance of the India JV. Also, provide support to the India JV team on issue resolution as needed.Working Capital Management Invoicing :
Responsible for the timely billing for all customers using customized invoice processing.Collections :
Responsible for VASCOR total company AR portfolio collections including minimization of past due AR and write-offs.Payables:
validate vendor billings against contract, push for extended termsCustomer Credit :
Responsible for reviewing credit reporting of potential customers and existing customers and setting appropriate credit lines to minimize VASCOR's risk of bad debt.Process Improvement and Automation :
utilize available technology including AI agents and RPA to simplify/automate existing tasks.Taxation :
Support tax information requirements for federal, state, local, property and business tax compliance.Applications and Business Intelligence :
in combination with VASCOR IT, key stakeholder in ensuring VASCOR's suite of accounting and business intelligence tools meet the expanding requirements of our books of business. This to include our general ledger and business intelligence tools including dashboards.Cost Reduction/Cost Avoidance :
key stakeholder to drive a culture of cost reduction including vendor rotation, competitive bidding, and optimization of service delivery to include cost reductions and/or cost avoidance.External Audit :
Oversee yearly assurance audit including primary auditor point of contact and driving audit forward on required completion schedule Preparation of yearly financial statements and footnotes.Internal Controls :
Maintaining a robust system of internal controls in all aspects of finance to minimize VASCOR's risk. Drive a strong culture of compliance.Staff Development :
mentor existing staff to drive high value add to VASCOR and improved capabilities. Automate routine work.Essential Skills and Experience:
Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Certification CPA required Skills Must be a skilled communicator, team builder, leader and able to apply financial expertise in support of an entrepreneurial business environment (As determined in job interview). Experience Logistics industry experience a plus Must have excellent skills in Microsoft Excel (As demonstrated in interview test). At least 10 or more years of professional Finance and Accounting experience is required.Strongly Preferred Skills and Experience:
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power Bi Query.Reporting to this position:
