Full Job Description Position Summary:
As Controller, you will be able to make impactful contributions to accelerate the growth and financial performance of this privately owned and managed company while advancing your professional career. As a motivated and detail-oriented Controller you will serve as the key financial leader within this entrepreneurial company. The company is in the second decade of internal growth thanks to its reputation as the global innovation leader in the high-end of its chosen market segment, while its global eCommerce market reach is anchored with direct-end-user customer relationships. As the company's primary accounting and finance professional, owning day-to-day operations while partnering closely with leadership to support strategic decision-making. In this role, you will acquire, direct, and manage the flow of financial information to enable departmental leaders to effectively steer their activities toward targeted results. This position is ideal for a hands-on small-company Controller with inventory accounting expertise who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and can balance tactical execution with big-picture insight. The successful candidate will bring 8-15 years of progressive accounting experience—preferably within a small to mid-sized manufacturing or eCommerce distribution company—along with a strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and return on investment/assets (ROI/ROA). Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness Ensure the preparation and integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Deliver timely financial insights, including budget-to-actual analysis and monthly financial summaries Accounting Operations Execute all core accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes to support business growth and scalability Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis Inventory & Costing Own the integrity of inventory accounting and valuation processes, including oversight of

Partner with operations to ensure accurate costing and inventory controls Cash & Treasury Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury activities to optimize returns and minimize risk Monitor debt covenants and ensure ongoing compliance Compliance & Controls Establish, document, and continuously improve internal controls and accounting procedures Oversee sales tax compliance, including multi-state filings and Avalara processes Coordinate with external auditors and tax providers Planning & Analysis Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with department leaders Provide insights and analytics to support strategic decision-making Identify and drive process improvements and cost-saving initiatives Leadership & Collaboration Partner closely with the fractional CFO and leadership team to guide financial strategy Support cross-functional teams with actionable financial data and insights Assist with system implementations and process enhancements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA or CMA preferred 8-15+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a growing or entrepreneurial environment Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience with inventory accounting and costing in a product-based environment Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred) and inventory platforms (Cin7 Core preferred) Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capability Proven ability to analyze financial data and translate insights into business recommendations Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
