$140,000 – $150,000 We are seeking a Controller to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization making a meaningful impact in the community. This is a unique opportunity for a finance professional who wants to go beyond traditional accounting and play a strategic, operational role within a growing organization. The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting support, and internal controls while working closely with leadership to drive organizational success. This Controller role is highly visible and ideal for someone who enjoys being at the center of decision-making and organizational growth. The Controller will partner directly with the CFO and leadership team, providing insight, improving processes, and helping guide the financial future of the organization. This is not just a technical accounting position—the ideal Controller will bring a strong operational mindset and a desire to contribute across the business. Key Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes Support audits and liaise with external auditors Provide financial insights to support program and operational decisions Highlights of the Role Highly visible position, right hand to the CFO, will be included in board and committee meetings Not just debits and credits, strong operational aspect 3 large projects planned for this summer Growth path to VP, then to CFO – current CFO wants to retire in 4 years and groom this person to take over his role CFO is hilarious, great sense of humor The CFO has been there a year and has made a lot of changes and progress Strong team Can have a flexible schedule 7.5% match on the 403b Newly created role, they haven't had a Controller in years and need a dedicated person to lead the function Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) Experience in nonprofit accounting strongly preferred Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on Experience improving processes and driving efficiency This Controller opportunity offers the chance to step into a high-impact role with clear upward mobility and strong mentorship.
