Job Description
PURPOSE:
Assists in formulating and administering functions relating to the financial operations of the hospital in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).DIMENSIONS
The Controller works closely with the Finance Department (Finance Staff) and reports directly to theCFO. ENVIRONMENT
Lincoln Health is a 15-bed Critical Access Hospital co-located with 22-bed Long Term Care Unit. The facility employs 150-200 employees.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the monthly financial close process including Journal Entries and producing timely and accurate financial and statistical information. 2. Responsible for completing the monthly close process within stated timelines. This includes journal entry preparation and/or review, the reconciliation of data interfaces from external systems into the general ledger, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and preparation of monthly and annual financial reports. 3. Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset system including addition of new assets, retirement of asset and calculation (also the monthly depreciation). 4. Assists with the annual financial audit, Medicare cost report and other required reports. 5. Produce and distribute the department monthly operating reports to the department leaders. Provide support regarding the budget, the operating reports and serve as a resource to answer any general financial questions. 6. Responds timely with accurate information to all requests for information from external auditors and cost report preparers. 7. Responsible for the proper accounting for operating and capital leases including recording right of use asset and liability along with the monthly amortization entries. 8. Serves as back-up for Payroll and Accounts Payable. 9. Other duties as assigned by theCFO. EXPOSURE RISK

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or five years related experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies or a member of the board. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to public groups and/or boards of directors.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficient use of a computer. Proficient with Microsoft suite of solutions especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Familiarity with financial accounting software programs (Multiview).PHYSICAL DEMANDS
