[90% Remote] Reports to: CEO About Hallmark Homes, Inc. We are a growing residential construction firm looking for a CPA with residential construction experience. As our current VP transitions to oversee the entire organization, we need a high-level operator to manage and oversee our Scattered Sites division. This is a very involved role- you will be designing systems, maintaining margins, and problem solving for a large portion of the organization.
Daily Duties Emotional Intelligence High-Stakes De-escalation:
You don't just "talk" to upset subcontractors; you utilize Relational Calibration to turn frustration into functional solutions. You are the person who can hold a firm line on quality and cost while ensuring the subcontractor walks away feeling respected and motivated.Perception Management:
You serve as the steady hand for our customers. When challenges arise, you use strategic influence to reframe the situation, maintaining client confidence and protecting the company's reputation.Conflict Architecture:
You have the "soft skills" to handle "hard" conversations. You can sense when a situation is about to "blow up" and have the tools to de-escalate and coach all parties back to a productive baseline.Internal Stability:
You understand that your team's success depends on the environment you create. You act as the emotional anchor for the department, ensuring that internal stress doesn't translate into external chaos.Operational Leadership:
Manage and mentor ~15 remote Field Managers, along with the Estimating, Sales, Accounting, and Pre-Production teams.System Architecture:
Follow, design, and improve systems. You will design, implement, and modify company-wide systems to ensure every task is repeatable, scalable, and risk-mitigated.Financial Oversight:
Perform deep-dive, granular, financial analysis- ranging from individual line items to PO's, individual Houses, and the entire business segment.
Pre-Production:
Keep jobs moving through the design, permitting, and banking processes to ensure a steady production pipeline. This involves managing the Sales Consultants, CAD department, Permitting Personnel, and customersProblem Solving:
From negotiating with subcontractors to calming a disgruntled homeowner, to resolving debates between employees, you are the final point of escalation.Tactical Execution:
Manage the selections database, oversee IT infrastructure, and maintain organization-wide document management.Job Requirements The Credentials:
You are a CPA. You understand the story that the numbers are telling and can forecast the company's future based on today's site visits. You can identify a problem in the field and create & implement a system to address the issue.Residential Construction:
You understand the unique challenges of scattered-site builds (logistics, timelines, and the "unexpected"). You may not know all of the details of a siding PO, but you're able to use the tools at your disposal to gain a complete understanding quickly to enable problem solving.Excel Skills:
You live in the "weeds" of data. That is, nested IF statements, VLOOKUPs, and complex conditional formatting.Small, Growing Company Mindset:
You have a "no task is beneath me" mindset. You're comfortable being a strategic executive at 9:00 AM, digging into a technical design error at 10:00 AM, and working through a drywaller's finishing issue at 10:15 AM.Negotiations and Strategic Influence:
You are a seasoned negotiator who can hold your own with suppliers and subcontractors to secure maximum value without compromising quality. You excel at perception management and building high-trust relationships, ensuring that employees and partners alike are aligned with the company's long-term objectives.
