AWS is searching for a Director of Finance & Operations to join our interdisciplinary Team to work to ensure the efficient and consistent financial health and operational efficiency across the entire organization. This Position will report to AWS' Executive Director and requires a strong, growth-minded, and ethically grounded financial leader who combines deep technical expertise with business acumen and sound nonprofit governance judgment. The Position will be responsible for financial management and business operations including: budget; finance; payroll; AR/AP; strategic planning; process improvement; software and systems integrations; data, analytics, & reporting; and other areas as assigned by AWS' Executive Director. The Director of Finance & Operations primary responsibilities are outlined below: As a trusted advisor and strategic implementer, the incumbent shall work directly with AWS' Leadership Team to identify strategic and tactical financial priorities, as well as opportunities for operational efficiencies, for each Department/Team, along with action plans to track progress and communicate status updates. As the senior leader responsible for financial stewardship, enterprise strategy, revenue growth, and fiscal integrity across AWS, the incumbent shall serve as a strategic business partner, helping stabilize, modernize, and scale AWS through disciplined financial leadership; and shall lead all financial operations while actively supporting revenue diversification, margin improvement, risk management, and long-term sustainability. As financial manager, the incumbent shall develop annual budgets, manage cash flow, oversee audits, ensure restricted fund compliance, create financial reports, complete reconciliations, manage AR/AP, administer payroll, conduct financial analysis & forecasting, and serve as the organization's subject matter expert and lead for finance software including Quickbooks Online and RAMP. In close coordination with AWS' Development & Program Teams, actively manage and support initiatives related to financial controls, guidance on policy, procurement, and expenditures, and timely payments for Grants, Contracts, and/or Agreements that obligate AWS funds and/or create a revenue stream to AWS. As policy & procedure lead, actively review and manage organizational policies in relation to both risk management and operational continuity, balancing AWS' values and core programming, to facilitate effective and efficient delivery of services to effectuate AWS's mission within financial and budgetary capacities. Further, the incumbent shall schedule routine policy review cycles to ensure AWS is current with best & emerging practices and technologies to function with operational excellence. As a information technology ("IT") support, the incumbent shall assist AWS, through direct coordination with the Director of Administration and/or assigned Consultants, with all IT-related Projects such as: G-Suite utilization and Admin Console functions, phone systems, system/software integrations, asset management, account/credential management, and troubleshooting. As a compliance support, the incumbent shall ensure compliance with all applicable industry and legal regulations and best practices, as well as adherence with AWS's policies, processes, and procedures across AWS. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Commitment to AWS's missions, vision, and values. At least five (5) years of experience as a senior leader of a 501(c)(3) / Non-Profit, overseeing financial management and operations, including information technology, finance, payroll, performance management, strategic planning, procurement, facilities management, contract/grant management, and compliance. At least eight (8) years of experience, as a supervisor or manager, in establishing, leading, and successfully completing large programs/projects that led to measurable results; and leading and supervising high-performing, interdisciplinary delivery and project management teams, on-site and remotely. At least ten (10) years of experience working in finance, fiscal management, business operations, administrative consulting, organizational development, and/or strategic planning industries. Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution, operational systems and tracking, and Board governance. People-center systems thinker, with strong success operationalizing strategies into trackable, measurable action plans. Pay:
