Director of Finance:
A cover letter and resume are required by the agency to be considered for this position. Under general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, for the SC First Steps office, this position functions as the Director of Finance. In consultation with the CFO, this position is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cash management, accounting, monitoring of compliance and spending, and internal and external reporting of the Agency's grant awards and expenditures. This position works closely with the staff associated with programs and local partnerships. In addition, this position provides support for agency reporting and accounting. The employee should possess knowledge of the principles, practices, theories, and terminology of accounting, banking, budgeting, and finance management. Complete knowledge or ability to learn fiscal and governmental procedures as it relates to budget and finances. Ability to plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals. Proficiency in Excel and MS Word. SCEIS experience preferred. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to demonstrate and promote inclusivity and cross-cultural competence. The employee should be knowledgeable in collecting and assimilating financial data; ability to analyze and interpret concrete financial data reports. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Maintains current, working knowledge of the terms and requirements of all federal, state, local and private grants received by the Agency and ensures compliance with all. Leads corrective action efforts to address any non-compliance. Supervise Accounts Payable function for all agency disbursements. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of state and Agency accounting processes and procedures. Ensure that all financial entries are posted timely and accurately. Reviews costs charged to grants and ensures all costs are proper. Processes corrections when needed. Prepares monthly or quarterly analyses of budgeted, actual and projected grant/program spending and distributes them to appropriate partners and staff. Conducts monthly or quarterly meetings with management and program staff to review status reports. Also attends grant/program-related meetings held by program staff as requested. Works with Blackbaud to monitor the use of grant funds by Local Partnerships to ensure they spend the funds timely and appropriately. Monitors and manages cash balances. Develops and produces invoices or periodic draw requests for grant reimbursements and ensures they are received and posted. Supervises staff assisting in completion of above. Backs up CFO on selected tasks. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implement management policies and initiatives and promote teamwork. Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field and professional experience in a related area, such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking. Employee should be knowledgeable in collecting and assimilating financial data and demonstrate the ability to analyze complex financial data and reports.
