Position Overview The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls for both Canadian and U.S. entities. This position requires a hands-on accounting leader with strong manufacturing finance experience and exposure to cross-border operations. Working closely with operations and executive leadership, the Controller will support business performance, ensure financial accuracy, strengthen processes and controls, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, highly organized, and thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role offers significant long-term growth potential and is designed for an ambitious finance professional seeking to evolve into a future CFO-level leadership position through demonstrated performance, strategic contribution, and operational success. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Operations Oversee daily accounting operations including: General ledger management Accounts payable and receivable Payroll coordination Inventory accounting Fixed assets Cash management Revenue recognition Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements for Canadian and U.S. entities Support foreign currency conversion and financial statement consolidation activities Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and clearing account management Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting Manufacturing Finance & Costing Oversee inventory valuation and manufacturing variance analysis Monitor and implement pricing adjustments, landed cost calculations, and rebate tracking Support operational performance analysis and cost optimization initiatives Collaborate closely with plant operations and leadership teams Compliance & Controls Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures Develop, monitor, and oversee standard operating procedures Ensure compliance with: Canadian and
U.S. GAAP
HST and U.S. sales/use tax requirements Corporate tax and regulatory reporting Payroll remittance and reporting obligations Business Support & Leadership Coordinate annual reviews and liaise with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and advisors Assist with insurance renewals, benefits administration, and financing arrangements Support ERP enhancements and financial process optimization initiatives Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members Manage projects with strong attention to organization, follow-up, and documentation Qualifications & Experience Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline CPA designation completed or in progress preferred Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Minimum 3+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of month-end and year-end accounting procedures Experience supporting Canadian and U.S. financial operations considered a strong asset ERP experience required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment Why Join Opportunity to join a highly reputable and growing manufacturing organization Exposure to both Canadian and U.S. operations Collaborative and entrepreneurial leadership environment High-impact role with visibility across the business State-of-the-art manufacturing operations and continued investment in growth and innovation Competitive compensation and long-term career growth potential
