Job Details Position Summary:
The Director of Financial Reporting is a leadership role responsible for overseeing is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end financial reporting function in a dynamic mining and development organization. This position combines deep expertise in corporate controllership, treasury, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), cost optimization, and operational finance to deliver accurate, compliant, and strategic financial insights. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates innovative problem-solving, and leads a team to support executive decision-making, regulatory compliance, and long-term value creation.
Essential Functions:
Lead the preparation, consolidation, and timely delivery of internal and external financial reports, including monthly management reports, quarterly reviews, annual financial statements, and Life-of-Mine financial models, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP, and industry-specific regulations. Direct external audits, internal control frameworks (including SOX readiness), and quarterly/yearly audit processes with external auditors, providing accurate documentation and analysis. Oversee the full budget cycle, including development of operational budgets, forecasts, zero-based budgeting initiatives, and strategic long-term plans; monitor performance against targets and drive corrective actions. Manage treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and balance sheet strategies to support liquidity and capital preservation. Develop and implement cost management strategies, including cost tracking, variance analysis, procurement optimization, supply chain finance, and inventory controls to reduce expenditures while maintaining operational excellence. Provide strategic financial analysis and management reporting to senior leadership, the CFO, and key stakeholders, highlighting business performance, risks, and opportunities. Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and project teams on operational readiness, contracting strategies, warehouse/logistics optimization, and capital expenditure monitoring. Build, mentor, and lead a finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement, support talent development and succession planning. Standardize and enhance financial systems, processes, and tools (including ERP implementations) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities. Qualifications & Experience Professional accounting designation required: CPA. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (advanced degree or additional certifications considered an asset). 12+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, controllership, treasury, with significant exposure in the mining, metals, or natural resources sector. Proven track record in senior finance positions including, Corporate Controller, Operations Controller, Director of Treasury, or equivalent, with hands-on experience in budget processes, financial modeling, cost optimization, and supply chain management. Demonstrated success leading large-scale financial operations, including external audits, and stakeholder reporting. Strong technical expertise in financial planning & analysis, treasury management, zero-based budgeting, Life-of-Mine modeling, working capital optimization, and procurement/contracting strategies. Experience with ERP systems, advanced financial reporting tools, and data analytics; familiarity with mining-specific financial and operational metrics is highly preferred.

What Success Looks Like In this role, you will deliver reliable, forward-looking financial information that drives operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth. You will be a trusted advisor to the executive team, combining controllership rigor with strategic financial leadership to support the company's mission in the mining sector. This position reports to the CFO. The preferred location is Lead, South Dakota; however, the role may be based in another city with a direct flight to Rapid City, provided the incumbent spends a minimum of 25% of their time in Lead.
