Full-Time, Direct Hire Position Summary A growing steel company based in Nashville, TN is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. Reporting to the Controller/Interim CFO, this is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day accounting operations with a strong emphasis on project accounting and construction finance. The company has approximately 120 employees, operates on QuickBooks Online, and is in an active growth phase. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day transactional accounting Own WIP and POC accounting including all related journal entries Support project managers and work cross-functionally with operations Own month-end close including journal entries and general ledger Perform project accounting and cost tracking Prepare basic reporting and cost structures Own the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison to the external CPA firm and ensuring they are moving efficiently and have the information they need Manage bank reconciliations Understand and apply AIA billing Manage payroll journal entry feed into QuickBooks Online and handle payroll infrastructure changes in coordination with the HR Business Partner Required Qualifications WIP and percentage-of-completion accounting knowledge Strong communication skills and ability to work with an operations team Flexible, detail-oriented, and able to move quickly Willingness to learn and ask questions Preferred Qualifications Construction industry experience Background in both accounting and finance #IND2
