Role Summary The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support financial operations and lead a high-performing accounting team within a real estate-focused environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and driving process improvements across property and construction accounting functions. You will oversee a team of senior and staff accountants, review financial statements, and remain hands-on in quarterly reporting, audits, and ownership reporting packages. This position requires a strong contributor who can operate both strategically and tactically while bridging communication between leadership and the accounting team. Key Responsibilities Supervise and support a team of 3 senior accountants and 2 staff accountants across property and construction accounting functions. Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare and oversee ownership reporting packages, including investor reporting and audit support. Manage and participate in the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Oversee construction accounting activities, including review of construction draws and project-related financials. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to address financial questions and provide actionable insights. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvement and help drive efficiencies across the accounting function. Key Requirements 3+ years of progressive accounting experience as a Senior Accountant, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities. Strong background in property accounting within real estate , including experience with construction accounting and draws. Proven experience reviewing financials and preparing quarterly reporting packages. Hands-on experience with Yardi and/or RealPage accounting platforms. Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex accounting issues. Effective leadership and team development skills, with a collaborative and supportive management style. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
