Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations for a portfolio of medical office properties in Dallas, Texas. This role will guide a small accounting team, strengthen reporting accuracy, and support sound financial decision-making across property and corporate activities. The ideal candidate brings strong property accounting expertise, a command of US GAAP, and the ability to balance day-to-day oversight with strategic financial leadership.
Responsibilities:
Direct and develop a team of accounting professionals responsible for financial activities across a large medical office real estate portfolio.
Authorize payment activity, including check runs and wire transfers, while serving as an approved signer on company banking relationships.
Oversee property accounting and accounts payable functions to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, promptly, and in line with established policies.
Review monthly and quarterly financial reporting for assigned properties, ensuring completeness, timeliness, and adherence to reporting standards.
Lead the annual budgeting process, analyze performance against forecasts, and support periodic updates to financial projections.
Manage year-end reconciliations, including common area maintenance settlements and other required closeout reporting.
Prepare and present financial information for leadership, lenders, partners, and other stakeholders on a recurring basis.
Monitor portfolio cash flow, evaluate liquidity needs, and recommend actions that support operational stability and effective capital use.
Supervise accounting operations such as reconciliations, journal entries, receivables, payables, and capital expenditure tracking while maintaining strong internal controls. Requirements
CPA designation required.
Demonstrated experience leading month-end close processes in a complex accounting environment.
Strong background in property accounting, preferably within commercial real estate.
Proficiency with Yardi and other accounting systems used for real estate financial management.
Solid knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Ability to manage and mentor accounting staff while maintaining high standards for accuracy and accountability.
Experience preparing budgets, variance analyses, and cash flow projections for multi-property portfolios.
